2011-2012 Ski Season


For Villa Olivia Winter Sports: All Season passes, program registrations, and payments are processed at Villa Olivia. The registrations are not available at other park district facilities or on-line.

Ski School
Villa Olivia's Ski & Snowboard School is rated one of the best in the mid-west. Professional instructors, under the direction of Norwegian born John Helgesen, utilize the American Teaching Method for lessons. Our trained ski and snowboard instructors teach lessons from beginner to advanced levels. Villa Olivia is a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and has a rigorous training program. Many of our instructors are additionally certified by PSIA or the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI). All lessons are located outside at Villa Olivia, 1401 W. Lake Street. 630-289-1000.
Ski & Snowboard Levels: Students will be placed in the appropriate level class as deemed by the Snow Sport School Supervisor or Instructor. The following list is a guideline for choosing lessons.

Beginner (Beg.) - First time skiing or snowboarding.
Novice (Nov.) - Has skied or snowboarded before.
Intermediate (Int.) - Ski/snowboard well on blue runs.
Advanced (Adv.) - Upper level skiing/snowboarding.

Lesson Description: Beginners will learn about safety and equipment use. Basic movements which include walking, gliding, stopping and using a lift will be taught in the beginner lesson. Intermediate and advanced lessons will focus on higher level skills, such as dynamic turns, which build confidence on varied terrain.

This is a great lesson package for ages 11-16 who want to learn to ski and build their confidence. The slope ticket and rental of equipment and helmet are included for each day. Three lessons are included.

Private & Semi-Private Ski and Snowboard Lessons
Private lessons are one on one. For semi-private lessons with students ages 4-6 there is a maximum of 2 students. For semi-private snowboard lessons there is a maximum of 4 students. Lessons may be scheduled by calling the Villa Olivia Snow Sport School at (630) 289-1000. A 24 hour notice is required. Lessons are scheduled by availability and do not include slope ticket or rental of equipment.
